A song about writing a song about writing a song….
I was asked to write words for a piece of music that A Member of the Public had written. A different challenge, but it’s a lyric I am very happy with.
Here is the video
I sensed my muse so I stole a look
I was floating through a borrowed book
Searching for a hook to hang my song on
Waiting for a late-night bus
Who was she? I was curious
But she was gone, like the shadow in my song
CH-
A shadow of a song reveals
A soaring hymn that makes you kneel
You’ll remember how it made you feel
–
I had a tune and words to give
I needed my muse to make them live
She came back and whispered can we make a deal?
Take my breath but use your words
Sing melody, harmonise in thirds
This shadow of a song that you make real

You’ll remember how it made you feel
Br-
Her inspiration
My interpretation
Gave illumination
To the shadow of a song

A shadow of a song reveals
A soaring hymn that makes you kneel
You’ll remember how it made you feel
–
People will forget what you said
And they won’t recall what you did
But they’ll remember,
How you made them feel

“The melody works and the lyrics are really good. Might be cool to have a vocal harmony in thirds on that. Solid!”
